Congratulations!

We are delighted to announce that our GLHA Chair, Sally Self, has been given an award by Cheltenham Arts Council for her long-term commitment to the promotion of local history studies. Sally also received the Joyner Cup which is presented to the most outstanding candidate of the award winners for this year.
The Awards evening took place on 18th March at The Municipal Offices, starting with a reception in the Pittville Room followed by the awards ceremony in the Council Chamber.

The Award Certificate noted:

For her long-term commitment to the promotion of Cheltenham and Gloucestershire local history studies through the Cheltenham Local History Society, the Victoria County History Project and the Gloucestershire Local History Association. Sally’s infectious enthusiasm for local history, her open encouragement to others to join in with cataloguing, to research a story and to write it up as scholarly but accessible history is an inspiration.

Sally said she was delighted to accept the award on behalf of all the teams of volunteers who she had worked with in the local history community.
