GLHA Guidelines on working with schools

At the GLHA Forum in September 2024 we held a workshop to discuss how local history groups might work with schools.

We have put together the advice gathered from the representatives attending and composed a Guidance document which can be accessed here.

Local History Resources for Cheltenham Primary Schools

Partly as a result of attending the GLHA workshop, Cheltenham Local History Society has launched an exciting new brochure to support the development of topics within Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum.

Although aimed at Cheltenham primary schools, it is sure to attract wider interest and may be used as a starting point for schools in other areas.

Including a directory of more than 60 local, regional and national history resources, the brochure also contains ideas for classroom topics, types of teaching materials available and a real-life case study.

If you are a teacher looking for new ideas to inspire and engage your classes this free resource may be just what you need. The brochure is downloadable, in pdf format with interactive links, below

We hope you will find it useful.

“A fantastic resource for teachers covering the fascinating local stories of Cheltenham and the surrounding area. Plus (so useful!) an easy “how-to” list of all the people and places you can call on to help bring Cheltenham’s history to life for your pupils.”
